Co-Founder
Wilma developed the concept for Friendship Home along with co-founder Joan Mullare. She played a hands on role in developing and growing Friendship Club and served as the coordinator of all events and activities until the Executive Director was hired in 2008.
Wilma continues to work in the Friendship Home office as part of the program and fundraising teams. She builds and nurtures relationships within the community with donors, business partners, families and volunteers. She helps to coordinate family education and support offerings. Wilma is a tireless advocate for all of the people that we serve and their families, providing a valuable resource and ongoing inspiration for the staff, families and all who touch Friendship Home.
Wilma lives in Norwell and has two sons, one of whom, Michael, has Down Syndrome. Wilma is an active member of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation Regional and South Coastal Area Citizen Advisory Boards, is a Trustee of the Edwin Phillips Trust of Marshfield, MA and a member of the South Shore Mothers Support Group. Wilma and Joan Mullare were named Citizens of the Year in 2006 by the Norwell Chamber of Commerce and were awarded a certificate of Community Recognition by the Department of Mental Retardation at the State House in 2001.
