Friendship Home to host Circle Of Friends Gala this month
Feb 17, 2010
Norwell —
Friendship Home will host its second Circle of Friends Gala on Thursday, Feb. 25, at Lombardo’s in Randolph.
Proceeds will go toward completing construction on the facility that is being built on the grounds of the United Church of Christ in Norwell. The new 12,600 square foot center will help Friendship Home achieve its mission of enriching the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families by providing respite and support services in a safe and nurturing environment.
Last year’s Groundbreaking Gala succeeded in raising more than $200,000, enabling Friendship Home to meet Doris Buffett’s challenge to receive an additional $250,000 and break ground. They did so last September at a celebration with more than 300 supporters. Construction is well underway and the facility will be complete this summer with the help of another successful Gala.
The evening, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and silent auction. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and a program will follow with comedian John Turco as master of ceremonies, Dan Flynn hosting the live auction and Favorite Band “Dick N Jane” kicking off the dancing with help from Friendship Club members. The evening promises to be one of the highlights of the season, with the many supporters of Friendship Home coming together to help raise the money to complete “The Home” that has been the vision of founders Wilma Goodhue and Joan Mullare for 11 years.
