Friendship Home visits State Rep. Rhonda Nyman

Tuesday, Sept. 13, members of the Friendship Home in Norwell were welcomed at the State House in Boston. Five employees brought 12 members in for a tour of the State House and a pizza party with State Rep. Rhonda Nyman, D-Hanover, where they were able to ask questions about her job and the government.

Rep. Nyman is a huge supporter in helping those with special needs, challenges and developmental disabilities and played a role in securing funds for the Friendship Home.

The Friendship Home serves members of the South Shore community and offers programs for those with developmental disabilities. They also provide support for their families and offer Home with a Heart. The Home is a respite and retreat facility that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides services to those in need. The Bridges to Work Career Program is also offered through the home where staff members help participants set a work plan, explore their options and complete a job placement.

“It is always wonderful to have groups from the district come in and visit with us at the State House and welcoming the Friendship Home was no exception. The home offers programs that enrich these individual’s lives and it was nice to be able to give back. It was also great to get to know the members and show them what we do on a daily basis,” said Rep. Nyman.
